A sterling silver tea caddy, or cube shape box by Tiffany & Co.  This is a very high quality example of the type of silver that continued the reputation of Tiffany as one of the world's leading luxury retailers.  Very simple and classic design, but made from exceptionally high gauge silver, with no expense in production spared.  The tightness of the lid is superb, with this piece originally designed as a tea caddy, this is very important to preserve freshness.  Concomitantly, it also highlights the quality and diligence during the manufacturing process.  This piece was made by Tiffany & Co. in their Portuguese workshop.  All of the silver to come out of this particular workshop from Tiffany is of the highest quality that was ever made.  This piece is no exception. As mentioned, it is made form very thick gauge silver, all of the lines are exceptionally well achieved, and the 'door knocker' folding style lid pull is seamlessly added to the lid allowing for an easy removal.  This caddy is stamped 'Tiffany & Co'. 'sterling' and 'Portugal' on the base.  It was made circa 1970's.
