If you followed Steel City Vintage watches for any time you'll notice we are big fans of the Rolex Datejust. The datejust line offers a variety of case designs and materials and numerous dial configurations. With so much variety there is something there for everyone. A watch to call your own and express your unique style. Having the crown on your dial and wrist doesn't hurt either.
What you'll also notice is that we are a fan of "smaller" watches. There are multiple reasons for this. Let me share just a few. Small watches are less popular so they provide an opportunity for someone to find "value." Less demand means lower prices. Cheaper entry into a vintage watch is an opportunity for our clients to achieve great bang for your buck if you will. Also, I think there is something to be said about having a more refined look. A big watch is clumsy and simply less versatile. It looks out of place in anything but a very casual setting. The timepiece on your wrist is meant to compliment the ensemble not be the main attraction. Modern watches of contemporary proportions more mimic a "luxury" item than simply a timepiece routed in horology.
Having the experience, I can tell you that a 34mm oyster case certainly doesn't wear as the size would suggest. That oyster case is substantial and it has great presence on the wrist. In addition, to great wrist presence you get Rolex updated Caliber 3135 complete with quickset date function, increased beat frequency, higher power reserve and increased resistance to magnetism. The smaller package grants easier accessibility. This example, a reference 15200, features a beautiful blue sunburst dial and a, crisp, unpolished case.

CASE: The 34mm stainless steel case is unpolished. The original, brushed finish can be appreciated on the anterior portion of all four lugs. The case illustrates light, even wear throughout.
DIAL: A beautiful blue sunburst dial. The dial appears to be free of any staining, patina, blemishes, scratches save for one noted toward the center of the dial near the 9 o'clock hour marker... The dial is completed by baton style hour markers and hands.
MOVEMENT: Rolex automatic self winding caliber 3135. The watch winds, sets, runs and keeps good time. The quickset date functions as intended. Service history is unknown. The watch was placed on a timegrapher which illustrated the watch is losing 2 seconds per day with an amplitude of 278. The watch can be serviced in house for approximately $325 parts (if needed). If serviced the movement will have a one year warranty.
