This is high quality Angelite, with a lovely blue coloring that has subtle patterns/variations throughout. It is often accented by tiny white "freckles". There may be pinprick tiny organic spots, particularly around cheekbones, jawline, eye sockets, and the nose. I hand pick and inspect each pendant very carefully just for you. If these areas are present, they are 100% natural parts of the stone.
"Angelite" is a trade name for the blue, opaque, variety of the mineral Anyhdrite. It was named in 1804 by A. G. Werner. The name "Anhydrite" comes from the Greek "anhydros", which means "without water". This is because of the absence of water in its composition, in contrast to Gypsum which does contain water. Why is Gypsum relevant? Because when Anhydrite / Angelite is exposed to water, it transforms to Gypsum as it absorbs the liquid. The transformation is reversible, however! Gypsum will form Anhydrite by heating to around 200° Celsius under normal atmospheric conditions. It's rarely faceted or cut into cabochons because it is quite soft, although a small number of crystals with a violet color and some transparency to them have been found.
PLEASE NOTE: Angelite is a softer stone and I would not recommend wearing this pendant in water (the shower, pool, ocean, etc.), or with other jewelry on the same chain!
Each one is unique and the exact coloring/patterns present vary from piece to piece. They are all just slightly different. Many people have told me that they are using these small skulls as pendulums with fantastic results! I guarantee they are better than the photo!
They measure approximately 7/8" to 1" inch long. The bale is Sterling Silver. The detailing is EXCELLENT! Angelite is a stone used to connect with the Angelic realm, including angels, guides, otherworldly beings, as well as your High Self. It is thought to bring serenity, inner peace, and a sense of calm and encourage forgiveness. It is very useful when you are stressed and feeling overwhelmed - just let the peace seep into you.
